Happenings...

It has been a while since my last post! The stupid math class I'm taking is just occupying all too much of my time. Here are some of the current happenings in my life!

Justin went on a fishing trip last week. He left on Wednesday and didn't plan to return until Saturday. I got a couple of books, caught up on homework, and spit shined my apartment. To my surprise, he called me Friday afternoon to tell me he was almost home. I was really surprised and asked him what had happened. Turns out he and the guy he was with caught 54 steelhead in 2 days! They met their limit and had no room in the truck for more fish! That is just unheard of. I am still astonished!!!

When Justin got back, we went to see "Hot Tub Time Machine." It was pretty funny, loved the outfits from the 1980's! The language was a little much for me, but for the most part, it was pretty hilarious. I think Chevy Chase was probably my favorite in the whole movie, even though his part is somewhat small. I've DONE IT! Well... almost! I am on my very last week of Couch to 5K. I did my 30 minute run on Thursday and I think it went pretty well. According to the treadmill, I'm just under a 5K though. I need to pick up my pace a little bit. But STILL! I am really proud of myself for sticking it out! The coolest thing happened to me while I was at the gym running! I was plugging along, just getting going with my workout. Some "skinny bitch" (you all totally know the kind I'm talking about!) got on the treadmill next to me and started jogging. Within a few minutes, it was apparent she just couldn't take it and had to quit! I out RAN the skinny bitch! Victory was MINE! Speaking of the gym, Mindy (my faithful workout partner) and I joined a local gym and I'm loving. it. Tanning, personal TVs attached to my treadmill, and all the weights a girl could ask for... I will be skinny and tan in no time!

This weekend we had my Grandma's 82nd birthday party at my Mom and Dad's house. It was fun helping my mom do all the cooking an prep for the suaree. All the family came over and we had a really fun time! Then, for Easter, Justin and I went to his family's house. We had a nice lunch with them and played outside with our dog, Lucy (cutest pup EVER! She has grown a lot since this picture, though). It was a good weekend!

I also finished "The Doctor's Wife." It was SO good! I really didn't know what to expect when I started reading it. It wasn't recommended to me by anyone (most of what I read is a recommendation), I just picked it up at Wal Mart, read the cover, and was intrigued. I have to say that the twisted relationship between all the characters involved really kept me turning the pages as quickly as I could. It is quite dark, but in a fascinating way. The story just kept me really enthralled! I would recommend it.

Today, I moved on to The Vampire Diaries. I am about 3 chapters in... and I think it's a little juvenile. So far, it has moved fairly quickly, though, and it is a light, easy read. Which is not altogether a bad transition after the dark and sinister "The Doctor's Wife." I'll report back on Vamp Diaries after I finish.

New Reads

Justin is going on a fishing trip soon, so I'm going to catch up on some reading! I love reading. The problem is, I just don't have as much time as I'd like to do it. It seems like I always have textbooks to read these days! Anyway, these are my new reads that I'm really looking forward to:From what I've heard about this book, it is supposed to be good. It is about a power couple in which the husband is a controversial OB/GYN in a small town and his wife, a trailblazing journalist turned teacher. From the description I read, it sounds like this is quite a story with lots of twists and turns.
I have to indulge my guilty pleasure and read another vampire novel. It has been all too long since I finished the Sookie Stackhouse series and it is time for another good vampire book. While I am on the subject of Sookie, Charlaine Harris is coming out with the next installment to the series in May. Can't wait!
I absolutely LOVE the new show on the CW "The Vampire Diaries." I think it is everything the Twilight movie should have been. If you haven't watched Vampire Diaries, I would highly recommend it. Even if you don't like Twilight, try it. Anyway, I love the show so much I think it would be fun to read the books. I'll report back on these books. I sure hope they are good! There's nothing better than a great read.

OMG and WTF

Kathryn Heigl has been cast as Stephanie Plum in the movie One for the Money (based on the book series by Janet Evanovich). I am really not happy about this. The rumor for a while was that Sandra Bullock (who I love) would be playing Plum... then we get this information about Heigl. Really??! This just doesn't seem like a match to me at all. Katheryn Heigl should stick to what she knows... playing annoying doctors and silly women who own excessive amounts of ugly brides maid dresses. I just don't think she can handle Stephanie Plum

Speaking of Sandra Bullock... what about this bombshell?! Right after she shines at the Oscars and Golden Globes we find out Jesse James is cheating on her?! If you missed the awards shows, she gave a long speech about how she owed everything to him and how much she loved him... what a slap in the face. I used to like Jesse James, but my opinion of him has seriously declined.

For all the Twihards... New Moon is coming out on DVD tomorrow! Anyone going to a midnight release party tonight? I won't be attending one, but if you are, cheer for Team Jacob for me! Just for the record, I am on Team Jacob ONLY in the movies. I am completely Team Edward when it comes down to the actual book.

Did everyone watch The Office last night?! Andy FINALLY made made his move on Erin. Now that Jim and Pam are together, we can root for Andy and Erin. I never really got the whole Dwight/Angela thing... it just weirded me out. Now all that's left is Michael and Holly and The Office will be perfect... well, almost.
And now for my Couch to 5K update... I can officially run 25 minutes without stopping! That's a little over 2 miles.WAHOO! I'll be ready for my 5K in a week or two. I have been pondering the idea of a 10K, and I think I might actually take a shot at it. Warmer months and sunny beautiful weather is approaching and I could stand to run for an hour each day and enjoy it. Plus, maybe I'll get a stellar tan along with a nicer figure : )

Couch to 5K

I am currently following the C25K program. I just finished up week 4 last night, and I think things are going pretty well. I have always hated running, but I am trying to lose some weight and I needed to face the fact that running is the ideal form of cardio exercise and just get over myself. Surprisingly, I am actually kind of enjoying my nightly jaunts on the greenbelt and treadmill. I can run for longer than I probably ever have been able to without stopping and I feel great. Maybe there's actually something to this whole "running" thing!

I have this theory that my hatred for running comes from years and years of playing sports and having running as punishment. Anytime our basketball team played crappy, we had to run ladders or what seemed like hundreds of laps. I think I automatically associate running with punishment and just never gave it a chance.

My goal is to run the Great Harvest Health and Fitness 5K on the Greenbelt in May. I should be done with C25K mid-April, but that will give me a few weeks to practice a little more so I don't look like a fool in public. I even have 2 dear friends (Jessi and Rachel) who have offered to run it with me!

I noticed there is a "bridge" program for C25K graduates to work up to a 10K. I can't imagine myself running 6.2 miles, but who knows!? I have to have some kind of a goal after I finish up C25K. Baby steps, baby steps...

Recent and Noteworthy Events...

I am a long time SNL fan, and I don't think I've ever been so excited for an upcoming episode! After much rallying on Facebook, Betty White is scheduled to host on May 8th!! I just love Betty White, I think she has so much charisma and talent. Hearing this pretty much made my day!

And if hearing this wasn't enough to make me smile, the Eclipse trailer came out today! I am a "Twihard" and love the book series with all my heart! However, I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the movie adaptation of Twilight. Robert Pattinson is just not hot enough, and Kristen Stweart is just plain annoying as Bella, or any character for that matter. On the other hand, Taylor Lautner makes up for their shortcomings! New Moon was a little bit better, I enjoyed it. It helped that I went to the movie with a super fun bunch of girls! Thanks Elise and Crystal! I am excited for Eclipse, though. In the 4 book series, Eclipse was by far my favorite. Since reading it, I am regrettably addicted to vampire books and tv series. I have since read the entire Sookie Stackhouse series, which I think I love even more than the Twilight series. That's an entirely different topic, but if you are a vampire fan and haven't read any Sookie books, I suggest you start! All in all, I think Eclipse looks promising.

I happen to be on Team CoCo and I'm pretty excited that Conan has announced a national tour! I think the closest they will be to Idaho is Spokane or Las Vegas... so I probably won't get to go, but nevertheless, still happy to see Conan in the news again.

Thanks so muchness, Alice!

Justin and I went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D over the weekend. What a delight! I thought the whole adaptation from Tim Burton was genious. I love love LOVE Johnny Depp! He just confuses me, though. How is it possible that even under that crazy makeup he is still so charming?! Dear Johnny Depp, you never cease to amaze me.

My First Blog!

How presh! It's my first blog! I decided to join modern society and start blogging. I'm not too good about writing in a journal and have a plethera of math classes coming up which means I won't be writing any papers for a while and I don't want my mad writing skills to get lax!

Ultimately, my vision for this blog is to keep in touch with family on current happenings in my life and to have a place to rant/vent. Enjoy! I know I will! More to follow...
